  Winner: Kevin Spitler.
Bio: I began my study of neuroscience at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio where I earned a B.A. with high honors. My first research experience started in the anatomy laboratory of Francisco Alvarez where we mapped the location of GABA-B receptor in the central nervous system using immunocytochemistry, TEM, and confocal microscopy. For my honors project, I investigated role of nitric oxide in hippocampal long term potentiation. Currently, I am a doctoral candidate in the Neuroscience Program. I combine electrophysiological and psychophysiological techniques to study the role of the amygdala in memory formation, in the laboratory of Katalin Gothard. I was awarded a National Research Service Award in 2005 from the National Institutes of Health to pursue this work.
